In our world where we are constantly bombarded by bad news and bad things, where we feel like we have to choose between a rock and a hard place, where we wonder what the future holds when economies are crashing because of a virus that the naked eye can’t even comprehend – I still believe there are even more reasons to smile than to worry.
I see connectivity on my social media where many are tagging each other in silly competitions and ‘get-to-know-you’ posts.
I see encouragement through blog posts, long Instagram/FB captions, Twitter threads, businesses and governments choosing people over profits.
I see humour in memes, silly home videos, bold ideas to stay creative in this season, and witty messagings to get people to flatten the curve.
The world is wack, and utterly broken. Yet, there is so much beauty, so much joy, so much more meaning when we spend more time focusing on these good things that are happening because of our situations.
While I see the numbers rise in the COVID-19 data and the numbers decline in the stock market, I choose to see the goodness of God through the people who choose to bring joy, choose to create, choose to bring comfort in a time when it’s harder to see the good.
